Last "Tune of the Week" of 08 + bonus!

Yoo!! 08 is over! im actually happy that this year has come to an end.

Why, you ask?
Really?

2008 was a damn weird year, man. You gotta agree. Just think about it. A lot of unusual shit happened that year with a LOT of people all over the globe.

I know 2009 will be different.

Anyway, give that song a try. Many of you im sure goes straight to that little blue button to pause the song. Not cool. If its TUNE OF THE WEEK, its for a good reason.

Damian Schwartz - Barrunto <- minimalistic to the bones. the afterhours tune for you to play, right here.

*bonus: Sis - Standing (Original Mix) <-be sure to check out Sis @ Beatport. i've posted many Sis tracks, they are truly a favorite.

Happy new year!

Top 10 Tracks of 2008 (according to me)

who doesn't love lists?

just Google "Top 10" and click around. i assure you you are going to be entertained for a couple of hours.

2008 was a GREAT year for electronic music. many BOMBS (capital letters emphasized) came out this year and many people realized that house music needs to be more mainstream (Hannah Montana, people? C'MON!).

I've put together my favorite tracks that came out this year in order, for your leeching pleasure.

1) Ilario Alicante - Vacaciones en Chile <-this tune caught me off-guard. my life hasn't been the same since i first listened to this. alrite, not like that but really.. this track IS my favorite tune to come out in 2008 for many reasons.

2) Henrik B - Surefire <-i will just quote myself from when i first uploaded this tune in the blog: "Not every track starts off good (they usually build up to the 2 minutes mark, then explode), but Surefire by Henrik B manages to start off powerful and end the same way."

3) Marlo - Alpha <- this is one of those to listen when you need that moment. magical (almost hypnotic) melody and pounding bassline makes this track a crowd-pleaser no matter when played.

4) Steve Angello vs Antonie Clamaran - Get Down, Gipsy Woman (Lui Danzi Remix) <-CLEANEST MASH-UP EVER! this track was created by a good friend of mine, Lui Danzi. i've posted a bunch of remixes of his in a recent post (check out his "Vacaciones en Chile Part 2") but this one caught everyone's attention because of the quality of the remix.

5) Sebastien Leger - Cylo <- Sebastien Leger's quiet release of Cylo/Bambou didn't come as quiet as everyone thought. real tech-house DJs/fans already own these tracks and keep them really close to their hearts.

6) Depeche Mode - The Sinner in Me (Ricardo Villalobos Conclave Remix) <- such a long track. great vocal work, though.

7) Laidback Luke, Roman Salzger - Generation Noise feat. Boogshe (Afrojack Remix) <- Awesome re-work from young Afrojack into one of the best surprises of the year. The climax gets you by surprise with its crazy bassline.

8) Abel Ramos & Miss Melody - Rotterdam City of Love (Axwell Re-Edit) <- this track is still pretty new compared to the rest of the list. it would probably be in a higher spot if i've found it earlier in the year. Axwell is a genius. everybody knows that. This remix just proved me that Axwell's work has no subgenre, he just knows good music.

9) Timo Maas, Santos (Mutant Clan) - Kenesai (Dub Mix) <-this track reminds me of Surefire a lot not because it sounds like it but because of the way it was constructed. Like Surefire, Kenesai starts with the climax and ends just as it started, PERFECT.

10) Gui Boratto & Eyerer - The Beach <- think of this as a rollercoaster. with it's ups and downs. This track has it all when it comes to what a Techno song should sound like.

so, there we have it, folks!

i'm sorry for the lack of NEW tracks. it's the HOLIDAYS!!!! give me a break.
but 2009 is just around the corner and with it comes many new tracks, many new festivals to talk about (ULTRA!!!!!) and more of me talking nonsense.

there will be one last post before the year is over so make sure you check M&HM often.

if you guys feel like typing, i want to hear from you what your favorite tracks of 2008 are. post them under comments!

ONE LOVE and happy new years.

Tune of the Week!

Amazing track from Marlo (really, DO check his MySpace) called Alpha.
That's it. Alpha.

Alrite, lemme tell ya how i found this track. i first heard this track while smoking a blunt with friends. It was being played by my cellphone's RADIO. YES!!! Sprint has this thing that has TV channels to watch live, full episodes and radio stations. They were playing the whole Bacardi B-Live vol.9 Mixed by Sin Plomo and Dj Pippi in order on the "Up All Night" station.
Great stuff, man.

Im glad i have Sprint! Just for its fucking radio stations.

So, yeah.. here is the track.
Marlo - Alpha <- AMAZING. this is one of those that will have you -for lack of better words- ride the music.

And since it's the holidays, for all the M&HM fans, im throwing in the full Bacardi B-Live vol.9 album.
(none of this is hosted by me, so don't throw rocks at me)

I know, it's one Rapidshare. trust me, it's worth it.
One Love and GO OUT.
*sorry for the lack of tracks. i've been really busy.

From across the Blogosphere!

How was your weekend?
I bet it was COLD (HOLLA!).
It was pretty warm down here with barely any clouds.

Wtf, this is no Weather Channel.

Lots of bombs today, especially some more from David Tort.

Kurd Maverick and Azin - Let the Freak Out (Gold Ryan and Tapesh Remix) <- INSANE! don't be misleaded by its vocals. Wait 'til you hear the beat that comes after the climax.

Pryda - Rakfunk (Original Mix) <- Pryda does it again for a crazy electrified minimal. Currently Top 10 @ Juno.

next?
ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL UPDATE!

Wednesday, December 3, 2008

Oh, nos! it's that time again!

Tune of the week here.
this time with the bombastic remix of Get Down and Gypsy by Dj Lui Danzi.

Steve Angello vs Antonie Clamaran - Get Down, Gypsy Woman (Lui Danzi Remix) <- this is clearly the best remix for Steve Angello's original. the nail-bitting climax (it's a complement) that will make you scream of joy and that famous melody from the original track makes this track an instant winner in a party.

I, too, wear my sunglasses at night.

Holy shit! i wear my sunglasses at night too!
But why do we? is it to hide our pervert eyes from the eyes of others? is it a fashion statement?
I mean, i can barely see the streets if i'm driving at night wearing sunglasses. Now imagine inside a nightclub!
I see more people wearing sunglasses at night than in daylight! ARGHH!!!

in honor of those who prefer to avoid socializing by wearing sunglasses inside nightclubs, those bombs are for you!

Trailers, trailers and more trailers..

well, well, well.

Plenty of trailers coming out for the holiday season and next summer.

A new trailer for next summer's Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was just released and it's looking nice!

Next up is the trailer for a little movie called Duplicity. It stars the eternal beauty of Julia Roberts and english dude turned cool actor Clive Owen, so it's a win win. This movie has it all, cheek-in-tongue humor, Julia Roberts, good plot, Julia Roberts, and some running around and sneaking.

2012 comes next and it's about.. well.. the end of the world. It's directed by Roland Emmerich, who was also behind movies like 10000 BC, The Day After Tommorow, Independence Day and Godzilla. I'm looking forward to this one.
And like the trailers says, google "2012" to see what the fuzz of this so talked about year is all about.

Oh, Jason Jason Jason.. You and your butcher knife wearing that hockey mask (and probably titanium vest). Can't he rest in peace, already? No. He can't die, remember?
Anyway, the crew behind The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (Remake) is back for another horror movie remake. This time around is Friday the 13th.

Yes Man tells the story of a guy (Jim Carrey!!) that attends a seminar that promises a better life if you change your "NOs" for YES's". But, since it's a comedy and it starts Jim Carrey, unfortunate things start to happen for our viewing pleasure. Oh, and the cutest actress alive Zooey Deschanel is also in the movie!
To me, this movie is like a sequel to his 1997 Liar Liar (which is FUCKING HILARIOUS).

Up is the next Disney-Pixar junction for a better world. No, it's just their next movie for next summer. It tells the story of an 78 years old balloons salesman that fulfills his dream of an adventure by tying up thousands of balloons to his house and flying over to South America.
Your reason to watch it? IT'S IN 3D!!!

I dont know what to get from this trailer, all i know is that Will Smith is going to change 7 people's lives and tie them together. Is it for the good or bad? Does he die? Does anyone dies?
I don't know, but that's why the trailer for Seven Pounds worked for me. It made me wanna watch the damn movie.

Last but not least, it's Angels and Demons. The prequel turned sequel that everyone has been waiting for! (sarcasm) You see, Angels and Demons the book came BEFORE The DaVinci Code book. But since the book it's not as famous as its sequel, the adaption for DaVinci came before Angels and Demons.
Let's just hope it's better than it's prequel (or is it sequel?). The DaVinci Code movie is nothing compared to the quality of the book (yes, i read it too).

So many movies, so little time.
I'm REALLY sorry for the lack of post, guys.
I hope this made up!

One Love.

Tune of the Week

This track has been around for some time now. but it has been heard a lot more now at nightclubs lately (at least here in Miami).

Depeche Mode - The Sinner in Me (Ricardo Villalobos Conclave Remix) <-powerful vocals, simple but a crowd pleaser for sure thanks to Minimal's best, Ricardo Villalobos.

What's up for tonite?

It's Saturday and you should be heading to the best club in town and party the night away.

Here are some of the tunes i'm currently listening to.

Daniel Castillo - Can U Help Me (Karim Cato Passion Mix) <- Tribal with sexy vocals. what more do you want?

Chriss Ortega - Love Is Here feat. Chandler Pereira (Mario Ochoa Remix) <- Love is indeed here! This song has such a good vybe. thanks to it's well placed beats with the lovely work of piano.

EDX - Casa Grande <-a very nice progressive from EDX.

Helvetic Nerds - Sanctuary (EDX's Afterhours Mix) <- a bit trancey, but i likey. EDX's mix made the melody just too nice.

Reel 2 Real - I Like 2 Move It (D.O.N.S. & DBN Remix) <-updated version of I Like 2 Move It for a more tech-house savvy like me.

Friscia Lamboy - Chunga (Phunk Investigation Mix) <-DRUMS!! i love DRUMS! spanish vocals? love them too! definitely a crowd pleaser.

more improvements @ M&HM.

M&HM now looks a little better.

I've fixed the width of the blog to accomodate all features into the right places.

- expect more stuff like.. like.. me being focused a little bit more on the movies section of the blog. It is MOVIES and House Music, rite? I'm fixing up some new stuff to click around and a whole new set of updated movie news (that matters), trailers and.. yeah.

Some gems for the weekend.

Some nice tracks to bring your mood up for the weekend.
Enough said.

Caetano Veloso - Depois Que o Ile Passar (Jack Ridella Remix) <-Awesome re-work of drums for a classic song from Brazil's finest.

Baggi Begovic - Big Difference (Groovenatics Remode Mix) <-a little underdog for the progressive house heads. Extra points for the Piano sample.

Artificialz - Boogie Bounce (Ralvero Mix) <-Don't worry about its title (it sucks!), Ralvero's remix made this tune into a gangsta bouncy Techy House.

Tune of the Week!

What a tune!

Diddy has joined the dark force! He, like many other artists, have realized how beautiful electronic music sounds and clashed with Felix Da Housecat to create this masterpiece.

Felix Da Housecat and Diddy - Jack U (JFK Mstrkrft Edit) <-Tune of the week! Thanks to Mstrkrft; the tune got edited with some DEEP bass. Catchy vocal provided by Diddy.

Cato K was playing it on the Y100.7 "Sex Afterhours" and it REALLY caught my attention. i was in a middle of a good conversation when it started playing, i had to tell my friend to hold on a second so i could turn the volume up on my car and record this track on my cellphone.

now i'm here asking IF ANYONE OUT THERE KNOW THIS TRACK, please let me know ASAP!

News that Matters!

hello, my fellow fellows!
I will first apologize for those who are here everyday for the lack of content in the past week.
My bad.
In this last week alone i had family issues, money issues and a road trip. It's a bit much for my little brain.

Let's start the week fresh, eh?
Here are some highlights for upcoming movies that you should keep a keen eye on.

-Christopher Nolan (director of The Dark Knight if you don't know yet), when asked the golden question; "what's up with Bats 3?" had that to say:
"Well ... let me think how to put this. There are two things to be said. One is the emphasis on story. What’s the story? Is there a story that’s going to keep me emotionally invested for the couple of years that it will take to make another one? That’s the overriding question. On a more superficial level, I have to ask the question: How many good third movies in a franchise can people name? [Laughs.] At the same time, in taking on the second one, we had the challenge of trying to make a great second movie, and there haven't been too many of those either. It’s all about the story really. If the story is there, everything is possible. I hope that was a suitably slippery answer."

Pretty good answer. I would come up with a better one, but i'm not Christopher Nolan.
Let's just hope that's not it for Christian Bale and crew.

-The new international trailer for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is now available online! I'm pretty sure it was leaked and not supposed to be seen yet, so go WATCH IT before "they" take it out!

-Underworld: Rise of the Lycans is the sequel for that movie with vampires and werewolves and that hot chick Kate Beckinsale woopin' ass. It's out on January 23rd and you can check out the HD trailer HERE.

This sequel looks great and all but there is no Kate Beckinsale!! They've actually replaced her with Rhona Mitra who looks a lot like the real thing.

-Weird man and actor Crispin Glover has joined Johnny Depp in the Tim Burton interpretation of Alice in Wonderland. He is set to play The Knave of Hearts. Other cast members include newcomer Mia Wasikowska (who plays Alice in the movie), Anne Hathaway and Helena Bonham Carter.

Alrite, too much.

See you in a little bit!
One Love.

Bombalistic!

*Que morena mais linda! Tinha que ser brasileira.

Back with some fresh (and not so fresh) tunes.

If you are a local DJ (South Florida) and wants your name all over M&HM, email me some of your work and i will publish it. That is if i like it (just kidding).

Dust N Haze - Receeder (Paul Anthony & ZXX Remix) <-great sounds, great build-up. Good tune to start an (you guessed it) Afterhours set.

Dj Chus, Peter Gelderblom - Feelin' 4 You (Oscar L & Ivan Pica Remix) <- fresh new remix for a already posted tune. Pretty basic but more house-y than Original and the other remixes.

Dario Nunez & David Vio - Morena Linda ( Jon Flores Remix) <-another great work from the man Dario Nunez remixed by one of progressive best Jon Flores. It's a crowd gatherer, ladies and gentlemen!

Reza - Live Again (Stonebridge Mix) <-"I'm not here to judge you!" interesting choice of vocals with a great piano loop throughout the tune.

Paul Thomas And Funkagenada Presents Ptfa - Gornal (Original Upper Mix) <-Minimalistic chill-out tune with a well synched climax. Pure awesomeness.

Federico Epis - Sensations (Ciprian Lemnaru Remix) <-Another minimal chill-out track. JUST AS awesome.

stay tune for some well deserved BOMBS coming up. Haven't posted some in a while, right?
One Love.

And finally, Tune of the Week!

sorry for the absence. i've been (trying to stay) busy.

it's nice to see that you guys enjoyed the feel changes made to the blog. i never thought M&HM would grow up to be such a big boy.

This song here is still my favorite for the moment. Not every track starts off good (they usually build up to the 2 minutes mark, then explode), but Surefire by Henrik B manages to start off powerful and end the same way.

get electrified: Henrik B - Surefire <-last 2 weeks (intentionally) Tune of the Week!

W. THE F*CK (Oliver Stone)

Now for some, up to date AMERICAN news

Well.. what do you know... After youve watched The Doors, by Oliver Stone, drive to your nearest movie theater after October 17 (or Jan. 2, 2009 If you live in Finland...) and be mesmerized by his new film, W.

With so much negative tension surrounding President Bush and official countdowns of his last day in office underway, we will just have to wait and see just what kind of altar this president's head gets put on. Will this change your opinion about the president? Is this his personal message to the "bush-haters." Will he have the last laugh?

Leave some love, will ya?

Nice Job on the logo Lukinhas

Oh and heres the official trailer:

Bus Ride to Social Degeneration "Bus 174"

The goose bumps still havent left my bare skin. There are movies that change your perception of life and this is one of them. "BUS 174" is Brazil's nomination for the Oscar, although many critics may not agree. I assure you that the price of life and the consequences of violence are affairs to be delicately reconsidered after you experience José Padilha's latest documentary about a bus which is taken by a young man. You may know this director from "ELITE SQUAD" AKA "TROPA DE ELITE". He holds the passengers hostage untill he decides to take a walk outside! Then... you couldn't expect anything to go down right.

Check out this comentary by imdb.com:
I just saw this movie, and I cannot imagine a more terrifying, sad, and heartbreaking piece of film existing. this movie is simply devastating. I was sobbing within the first 20 minutes. A young man of 19(who looks about 50)hi-jacks a bus and we see the results of an agonizing life play out before our eyes. It is hard to watch, and hard not to deeply care for Sandro. I cannot put into words how heartbreaking and important this movie is. Sandro's life is irrevocably doomed, and we discover there are thousands almost exactly like him, roaming the streets of Rio, desperate and hungry for any kind of social acknowledgement. It should be required viewing for the human race

And check out the trailer for your pleasure.!

my BOMBS for September (part 1)

enjoying the new visual, eh?

i suck at photoshop so all the credit for the new logo goes to Lucas Faulhaber lukaka15@msn.com.

i've saved the best for last. this post is really important for me mainly because my hands been itching to post them earlier. I'm glad i waited 'til now and made a little collection with the tunes that REALLY caught my attention this past month.

As i have said many times; If i had the power i would seriously create a new sub-genre with the name of Afterhours. And if you ask me why just listen to one of these tracks (start with ATFC's Praise to the JB's in case you don't have it yet). This shit here is not your typical house music.

Robbie Rivera - Star Quality feat Lizzie Curious (Wally Lopez Factomania Mix) <-just released Star Quality remixed! very juicy a la Juicy Music.

happy weekend,

Dragon Puke trailer!!!

*maybe BETTER than this piece of shit!

hello everyone,
today i come to talk about the poor children living in nations such as Haiti and the Democratic Republic of Congo. For a couple of cents YOU TOO could help a life and little-by-little make this a better world.

But no..

YOU go ahead and waste millions of dollars in stuff like this?

Joblo.com just got their hands on the trailer for Dragon Ball (a La Americana) and it's looking good! ..for teachers of big universities teaching their students of cinematography how to NOT make a movie.

Check it out HERE.

HUGE Music Festival coming! + BOMBS

after looking around the blogs to see if there is something that would catch my ears i've noticed that a lot of blogs just throw random tracks like a paperboy without experience.

i know i lack on constant posting, i should be posting more.. way more! but life is not about just sitting in front of a monitor, locked inside four walls without sunshine. so i try my best to post WHAT REALLY MATTERS. tunes that are so damn good that makes my brain itchy and go "damn, this track is HOT! let me upload it..".

anyway, Autumn Music Festival 08 is just around the corner and even though the guys behind this event has not announced the official headlines i can confirm that ROBBIE RIVERA will be part of this year's AMF. which is scheduled for November 22.

oh, and did i mention that this is a FREE EVENT?

check M&HM next week for more info.

but for now, here is some great noise for your pleasure.

Junior Senior - Move Your Feet (Tocadisco Unreleased Bootleg Mix) <-"everybody, move your feet and feel united! Oh oh oh!" with a nice kick.

Deadmau5 - Slip <-Deadmau5 is not my cup of tea, but this is GOOD! progressive with a housey feel with a beautiful climax.

Ricardo Villalobos - Amazordrum <- more people should know more about this man. his work is just unbeliavable. i've featured his "Infants" tune as a Tune of the Week a while ago and people just wouldn't stop asking for it! This track is really dark and heavy (if you know what i mean). it's exactly what i want.

BONUS: Lil Wayne - A Millie (Dj Kriya Remix) <-an explosive electrified remix for this already crazy hip-hop tune.

One Love!
always and forever!

CLOCKWORK "MADNESS" ORANGE

ClockWork Orange

Director: Stanley Kubrick
Release Date: February 2, 1972
First off, (sighs!)Its been a long week.. I had Tests in each one of my classes and after the tests there was a habitual “steam blow OFF”, to relax the body and soul! Its Friday and I’m about to jump on a bus. I will be traveling from the capital Belo Horizonte, 200 kilometers north west, to Curvelo, Minas Gerais. This weekend is special. Its my b-day and I’m nowhere near my friends that were by my side the past 2 years. Life spins us around like we’re a kid’s toy… just pull and let go! I’ve moved half way across the world for some life that seems to suck away at me every year that goes by. That just leaves me reminiscing. The human being is a being always in desire.
Hears what im dropping this time. CLOCKWORK ORANGE, Tagline: “Being the adventures of a young man ... who couldn't resist pretty girls ... or a bit of the old ultra-violence ... went to jail, was re-conditioned ... and came out a different young man ... or was he ?” (imdb.com)
This 1970’s film has the spirit of the revolutionary 60’s-70’s and is sure to picture some impressing art and fisical beauty. Props out to the director, Stanley Kubrick, which might have been the guy to choose the female participating actors... featured mostly well, undressed, might I add. As soon as you lay your hands on this classic, you are sure to be amazed by one man’s story, Alex Delarge.
The scene I’ve chosen pictures Alex & his gang during one of his many break-ins! Enjoy

Interesting Fact: 'Anthony Burgess' originally sold the movie to Mick Jagger for $500 when he needed quick cash. Jagger intended to make it with The Rolling Stones as the droogs.

Pirates 4!! arrr!!!

*Did no one come to save me just because they missed me?

I guess 4 is the lucky number for movies nowadays.

Because Disney just announced that that movie about pirates running around and destroying ships is coming back for a 4th installment. And, yes, the crew is back (including Depp as Sparrow himself).

Not only that but Disney just gave away half of their saved money to have Depp as Toro from Lone Runner and Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland in the upcoming movies.

So yeah, be prepared to see Depp like you see Myles Cyrus stamped around next to Walt Disney's logo.

Darone - Sexy Thing (Vocal Mix) <- great with your girl (or guy).

Audible - Moments (Original Mix)

Spooky - Candy (James Zabiela Remix)

Minz - Chineze Drip

Laxa - Saxo Feeling (DJ Koss Remix)

Fabio Stein - Another Break Of Dawn

Bonus: Nick Bridges, Daley Padley - Spatulina (Hauswerks Mix)

better trailer for "Blindness"

Im not sure why movie "people" make these trailers that are 10x better then the other but here goes a trailer for Blindness that is, as you will see, 100x better!!!

Lizard King

The WHITE SICKNESS will get YOU

If you haven't heard about this movie then you probably need to! This is the CANNES FILM FESTIVAL opening night oficial selection. From the same guy that brought the brazilian slum (favela -Portuguese) into the worlds eye ("CITY OF GOD" Fernando Meirelles) comes a story that is inhumanely interesting and down right freaky. If you remeber "I AM LEGEND" then you probably remeber the cute brazilian chick Alice Braga. She is also starring in "BLINDNESS." By the way the movie is based on the book by José Saramago: Take a look @ some comments posted on You Tube-
"When I first read the book I thought it could be a great movie. When I heard that the movie was coming out I tried to keep my expectations low to be not disapointed. Last night I saw the movie and it was the most exciting good surprise. For the first time I'm amazed by a movie inspired in a book I've read before. Meireles (and the actors) did a real masterpiece." -Kdubrasil
"The book is FUCKING AWESOME, I can only hope the movie is well adapted, it seems ok from the trailer, but that's the problem when you read the books first.... The role Gael Garcia is playing the kind of ward three, is a nasty bastard, a fiend." -Xubose

AND, of course, Check out the trailer for yourself:

AKA: "Ensaio Sobre a Cegueira" (BRAZIL)
Already released in BRAZIL, JAPAN & CANADA
Release Date USA: September 26, 2008

Laidback Luke & Roman Salzger - Generation Noise (and Remixes)

*no one can stop this man!!!!

When it comes to club hits, Laidback Luke is the superhero that takes care of the night.
This tune is designed beat-by-beat to make a crowd crawl on the walls (depending on what you're into, you know?)

All remixes are approved by me, so it's something.
